Flights to Kefalonia

Flights can be expensive to fly to Kefalonia and therefore you need to research flight cost as they tend to go up and down throughout the season. This is possibly because the airlines have not sold all of their seats and also the demand depending on the month in the season.

When I book flights I never book an outbound flight and inbound flight together. The airlines know that holiday makers tend to book a 7, 10 or 14 night stays and therefore they push those prices up. But if you book a one way flight and then separately book a return flight you often find it works out cheaper . By doing this you can check different airlines. So you might fly out with one airline but return with another. Another way to keep the cost down is to not book the average 7, 10 or 14 nights but to book 8, 11 or 15 nights.

The flights are often cheap until you start to add the extras such as luggage. The airlines charge around £100 a case for a return flight. Therefore only pack what you really need. There are laundrettes on the island and some accommodation have washing machines. If you can use 1 case for 2 people then you will save money. Look at how you pack your case. I know from when I was going on holiday I would take a lot of clothing and only actually wear half of what I packed. Its very casual here so you do not need to bring different shoes to match your outfit.

Hand luggage, I have noticed the hand luggage bag size has changed and your bags need to fit into a smaller basket at check in. They are now checking your hand luggage before you get onto the aircraft and are then charging people around £50. This has happened to me.

So be smart and beat the airlines at their own game!
