On the 2nd May both Kevin and I appeared on the show A Place in the Sun. We were chosen following an advertisement that Kevin responded to in July 2022. The show was filming in Kefalonia Greece, which is where we had visited in April 2022 and we had decided that we would like to move to Kefalonia. We had been looking at moving to Greece for many years and had planned to do it once we retired. But the show was a good opportunity for us to get the advise we needed and also to find a property that we could rent out to generate an income. This meant that we would be moving 10 years earlier than originally planned.

In August 2022 we flew to Kefalonia for a week of filming and looking at properties that might be suitable for our new life in Kefalonia. We viewed some lovely places and chose one in a village called Diverta. We fell in love with a three storey villa. But as the sale progressed it came to light that the owners of the property were in a freud and the wife had refused to sell the property. We were totally devastated but did not give up. 

We had to wait until the Island re opened in April 2023 before we could return to Kefalonia and continue our search for the ideal property. We found another house in Skala which also fell through due to the property not being built to the guidelines of the plans when it was built. So once again we had to return to Greece and continue the search. We found a villa in Agia Irini and finally we had our property in Greece. We named the Villa Richmond Villa. The name was chosen as I was born in Richmond Upon Thames. We have a second property in Kefalonia and that is called Newbury villa. This is named after where Kevin is from in Berkshire.

It took months for the two properties to complete, we had sold our house in England and had moved in with family waiting for the move to Greece. Seven months later we finally received the news that the sale was finalised.  We packed up and drove to Greece. We was up against time as we had been informed that to obtain a Golden visa we were required to invest 250,000 euros but this was going up to 400,000 euros. However, Spain was planning to stop the Golden visa and we was worried Greece would follow.
