We are now well into the holiday season here at Richmond villa and the weather has been very hot. We have met some really lovely people and some of which will become good friends. We have found the Greek people to be very welcoming in the village and friendly.
We have had some lovely feedback from our guest who have said they plan to return. The feedback we have received has been very complimentary. They have loved staying in the villa and found the location to be great for getting around the island. We have enjoyed renting the villa out and meeting the families who have been staying at the villa. The pool has also been a big hit. The pool is warm from the sun and is ideal for a lovely swim or just for a dip to cool down. The birds love the pool too. This is a picture taken by one of our guest.
The heat has been a nightmare for the garden and we have had to replace some plants as they have died with the sun and heat. But it has shown us which plants and trees are better for the climate that we have here. The fruit trees are coming along nicely especially the peach tree and orange tree. Unfortunately the apple tree only has 1 apple.
Richmond Villa is situated in the village of Agia Irini Poros and over looks the village.
You can see the Villa from the main road that passes through the Village when you look up as it stands out amongst the other properties.
When approaching the villa there is a gated entrance and plenty of private parking. The villa is surrounded by the gardens with trees and plants.
The island has become very busy with all the holiday makers.
Here in Poros there are lots of boats in the port.
The area is buzzing and the bars are full. It’s a great atmosphere and the area has come alive. Poros is made up of three parts.
You have the port which is where the ferry comes in from other islands, then you have the restaurant and bar area in the square and then the beach area with bars around it.
We have three favourite bars, the Bar Zanza which does a happy hour for cocktails which are very good, then we like what we call the Rock cafe, which is actually called Remetzo cafe. This bar is in the rocks and is lovely and cool and the sea comes right up to where you sit.
Then we also like Maistrali bar, this one is oposite the Port area and is great for people watching. There are also some souvenir shops and supermarkets. The supermarkets here are not like we have in England, they are small shops but you can find what you need in them.
Poros is an ideal place to stay as you have the Port which gives you access to the ferries to go to the Greek mainland and Ithaca and private boat trips to other Islands. There is also plenty of restaurants. Then you are not far from Skala and Katelios which are also very popular areas.
